Wildcats hit their stride in blowout over Sonora

Canadian appears to be finding its stride at just the right time following a blowout win over Sonora, 56-13, in a Class 3A Division II area round game Friday night at Tiger Stadium in Slaton. After limping into the postseason on a two-game losing streak, the defending state champions have found new life, putting together back-to-back playoff wins to advance to the regional semifinal round for a ninth straight year.

Rankin Proffitt wins first-ever WRCA Junior Youth Cow Horse competition

CMS sixth-grader Rankin Proffitt won the Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA) Junior Youth Cow Horse competition held last Friday, Nov. 12, at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex. The event was held in conjunction with last weekend’s 26th World Championship Ranch Rodeo, and the first-ever Youth WRCA Ranch Rodeo.

Setting the Record straight Former CHS Lady Cat Denise [Lee] Roberson contacted us last week to say that she loved reading about the success of the 2021 Lady Cat cross-country team, which we reported was the first Canadian girls’ cross-country team to win District and advance to Regionals since 1996. Not so, according to Roberson, who wanted to correct the record.
