The Canadian Wildcats landed nine players on the 2021 3-3A Division II All-District football team, released on Monday. Canadian was the last team out of the district to be eliminated from the UIL Class 3A Division II playoffs, falling last Friday to Abernathy, 37-26, in a regional semifinal game.

Canadian appears to be finding its stride at just the right time following a blowout win over Sonora, 56-13, in a Class 3A Division II area round game Friday night at Tiger Stadium in Slaton. After limping into the postseason on a two-game losing streak, the defending state champions have found new life, putting together back-to-back playoff wins to advance to the regional semifinal round for a ninth straight year.

The Canadian Lady Cats extended their hot start to the season in Saturday’s home opener. After back-to-back wins over powerful Nazareth, and Lipan, Canadian was able to let up on the brakes quite early, dominating Dumas 68-27.

CMS sixth-grader Rankin Proffitt won the Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA) Junior Youth Cow Horse competition held last Friday, Nov. 12, at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex.
