The future is bright for Lady Cat cross-country

The Canadian girls cross-country team didn’t make the medal stand this time, but what the Lady Cats did in their first-ever appearance at the UIL Class 3A state cross-country meet spoke volumes. Behind a youthful squad, Canadian is laying a foundation for years to come, following a sixth-place team finish and freshman Konnar McClendon capping off an incredible season by earning a top-10 individual spot at the meet.

JV, seventh-grade Wildcats notch district championships with wins over Childress

The Wildcats split four hard-fought contests with the Childress Bobcats last week. An injury-depleted varsity squad … while the eighth-graders dropped their season finale 25-12. On the win side, though, the Cats’ junior varsity completed a perfect 6-0 season with a 31-22 victory over the Bobcats, while the seventh-graders defeated Childress in a 40-6 season closer, to finish 6-1-1. Both teams claimed district championships.

Wildcat winning streak ends in swarm of Hornets

The Canadian Wildcats saw an incredible 47-game win streak, dating back over nine years, come to a disappointing end at the hands of Tulia during a 54-35 loss at Younger Field last Friday. Simply put, the Wildcat defense had issues slowing down quarterback Travon McCaslin and the Hornets offense from the second quarter on.

LUBBOCK— The Canadian girls cross country team made history this week, becoming the first team in program history to qualify for the University Interscholastic League Class 3A state cross country meet set for Old Setters Park in Round Rock on Nov 5-6.
