The 7th-Grade Lady Cats have been working, hard preparing for the season. There are only ten girls playing this year, so we don’t have a lot of depth. The girls have been doing a good job during practices and have improved greatly each and every week. Our first game was supposed to be against Dalhart but it was cancelled because Dalhart had a playoff game on that Thursday.

The Canadian Wildcats landed nine players on the 2021 3-3A Division II All-District football team, released on Monday. Canadian was the last team out of the district to be eliminated from the UIL Class 3A Division II playoffs, falling last Friday to Abernathy, 37-26, in a regional semifinal game.

Canadian appears to be finding its stride at just the right time following a blowout win over Sonora, 56-13, in a Class 3A Division II area round game Friday night at Tiger Stadium in Slaton. After limping into the postseason on a two-game losing streak, the defending state champions have found new life, putting together back-to-back playoff wins to advance to the regional semifinal round for a ninth straight year.

The Canadian Lady Cats extended their hot start to the season in Saturday’s home opener. After back-to-back wins over powerful Nazareth, and Lipan, Canadian was able to let up on the brakes quite early, dominating Dumas 68-27.

CHS cheerleaders announce Wildcat send-off route Friday morning Cheer on the Canadian Wildcats this Friday morning as they head out for the regional playoff versus Abernathy. There will be a send-off at 9 am.

The Canadian Wildcats sure know how to keep fans on the edge of their seats with a flair for the dramatic, whether it’s an unforgettable end to a state championship or a first-round playoff game. Friday’s game was an epic tale of two halves.

Canadian Lady Cat Head Coach Aaron Marks couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season. Not only are the Lady Cats off to a 3-0 start, the quality of competition throughout the first three victories is eye-opening.

CMS sixth-grader Rankin Proffitt won the Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA) Junior Youth Cow Horse competition held last Friday, Nov. 12, at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex. The event was held in conjunction with last weekend’s 26th World Championship Ranch Rodeo, and the first-ever Youth WRCA Ranch Rodeo.

Setting the Record straight Former CHS Lady Cat Denise [Lee] Roberson contacted us last week to say that she loved reading about the success of the 2021 Lady Cat cross-country team, which we reported was the first Canadian girls’ cross-country team to win District and advance to Regionals since 1996. Not so, according to Roberson, who wanted to correct the record.

It was a rough end to what has been a trying regular season due to a depleted roster for the Canadian Wildcats. Childress came into Wildcat Stadium on Friday and walked out with a convincing 34-13 victory, securing the outright District 3-3A Division II championship.
