Canadian Wildcats defeat Sunray in bye week tuneup

The Canadian Wildcat JV (3-1) battled the Sunray Bobcats to a 36-14 victory last week, on their way to the start of tonight’s district opener versus the Spearman Lynx. After a slow start and a scoreless first quarter, Canadian got on the board twice in the second period with a 10-yard pass from Clay Kendall to Max Dumbauld and failed PAT for 6, followed by a 20-yard drive by Kaden Crooks into the end zone for another 6 points.

The Canadian Golf Club will host an 18-hole Super Scramble with a blind draw this Saturday, Oct. 2. Those wishing to participate are asked to sign in by 12:30 pm, pay in by 12:45 pm, with teeoff scheduled for 1 pm. Entry fee is $25/members, $30/nonmembers. There will be contests for men’s and ladies’ long drive on No. 6, and for closest-to-the-pin on Nos. 2, 8, 11, and 17. The cost to enter is $4/ contest. Wildcat Youth Football teams are dominant in early half of season

Canadian’s Youth Football League Wildcats blanked both the 3rd- and 4th-grade and 5th- and 6th-grade Shamrock teams two weeks ago on Saturday, Sept. 18, in games played here at Wildcat Stadium. The 3rd and 4th Cats won 40-0, while the 5th and 6th Cats shut down Shamrock 56-0. Canadian hosted Wellington in last Saturday’s games here, and again, dominated their opponents. The 3rd and 4th Cats blanked Wellington 28-0, while the 5th and 6th team racked up a 38-6 win.

Freshman Lady Cat Konnar McClendon outpaces girls’ cross-country pack at Canadian Invitational Saturday

Lady Cat Varsity The Lady Cat cross-country team had a great showing in Saturday’s Canadian Invitational, held at the Hemphill County Recreation Complex. Led by freshman runner Konnar McClendon in first, and Arionna Black in third, Canadian’s varsity girls claimed a narrow second-place finish overall, only 2 points behind Wellington’s Lady Rockets, who avenged a 1-point loss to Canadian on their home turf the week before.
