Holiday spirits officially lifted

Canadian High School Theatre students performed A Christmas Carol on Nov. 26 and Nov. 27 at the Texas Crown Performance Hall. Director Mistie Walser said they had a great crowd for both performances. The money from tickets goes to the CHS theatre department and pays for costumes, props, performance fees, and travel expenses for the one-act play. “It was a great play to direct,” Walser said, “[The students] were spectacular. The carolers were amazing, and the actors came out with energy.”

Connor Cipollone qualifies for state UIL congressional debate

Sophomore Connor Cipollone made history last week as the first Canadian High School student to qualify for the state UIL congressional debate competition.

Cipollone is among three students from Region 16 3A schools who qualified for the state-level competition, which will be held on Jan. 4, 2023, in Austin. Bushland’s August Vinson and Spearman’s Avren Delozier will also advance.

'A Christmas Carol' to be staged Nov. 26-27 at Texas Crown

The classic Christmas tale A Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens and adapted by Mistie Walser, will be brought to life on stage at the Texas Crown Performance Hall on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 26-27.

The timeless Christmas story is narrated by Konnar McClendon. Scrooge is played by Diego Lugo, with Young Scrooge portrayed by Tucker Landry. Scrooge’s sister, Fran, is played by Emely Perez.
