Rotary’s guest speaker, Terrill Bartlett, is obviously a man of many talents and interests: CEO, mayor, running enthusiast, fireman, and self-educated solar-energy specialist. Bartlett completely impressed and overwhelmed us with his thorough illustration of the solar-energy system that he designed and installed in the Bartlett home.

USDA opens People’s Garden Initiative

TEMPLE—The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is expanding its People’s Garden Initiative to include eligible gardens nationwide. School gardens, community gardens, urban farms, and small-scale agriculture projects in rural, suburban, and urban areas can be recognized as a “People’s Garden” if they register on the USDA website and meet criteria including benefitting the community, working collaboratively, incorporating conservation practices, and educating the public. Affiliate People’s Garden locations will be indicated on a map on the USDA website, featured in USDA communications, and provided with a People’s Garden sign.

Friendship Quilt Guild calls for submissions to Fall Foliage show

The day group of the Friendship Quilt Guild was called to order by the outgoing president, Ilene Floyd, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Community Worship Center in Perryton. A call for quilts for the River Valley Pioneer Museum in Canadian for the Fall Foliage Festival Quilt Show was read. They will be accepting quilts Oct. 7-10 for display in the museum Oct. 15-16.
