Murder and mystery abound in stage adaptation of "Clue"

Body
Audiences for last weekend’s two performances of Clue—an adaptation, presented by the Canadian High School Wildcat Theatre, were treated to a wonderful ensemble of well-cast characters as they spent a mysterious evening at the ghastly Boddy Manor, where murder threatened at every turn. Two nights of packed houses in the Texas Crown Performance Hall enjoyed suspense, slapstick humor, and blood-curdling surprises against the backdrop of a beautifully-designed set, mood-enhancing lighting, and pitch-perfect sound. Members of the cast are Corbin Throgmorton as Wadsworth, Payton Wilkinson as Yvette, Miah Harris as Cook, Will Fry as Colonel Mustard, Clara Pulliam as Mrs. White, Joy Stiner as Mrs. Peacock, Ethan Ferrer as Mr. Green, Tucker Landry as Professor Plum, Ella Walser as Miss Scarlet, Miranda Calabrese as Ms. Boddy, Presley Harper as The Motorist, Addi Wall as The Cop, Ainsley Cook as The Singing Telegram Girl, Keller English as Chief of Police, Mason Drager as Officer Cobalt, and Tatum Oatman and Konnar McClendon as Maids. Crew Members are Ashley Perry, stage manager; Mason Drager and Cole Walser on lights; Annabell Gilmour on sound; and Nayroby Duarte and Emily Green on spotlights. Set design and construction were done by Nicholas Benson, Javier Cardenas, Barrett Flynn, Clay Kendall, Sam Kendall, Micah Peters, Kamden Sanchez, Dylan Leach, Mason Drager, and Nayroby Duarte, with help from Randy Walser, Jaelynn Swires, Lewis Ortega, Derek Wood, and Lawana Pulliam. CHS Theatre instructor Mistie Walser was the director, with assistance from Danielle Ortega and Torra Wood. Kudos to all for two evenings of first-class entertainment.

Canadian Middle- and High-Schoolers do good

Body
Monday, Oct. 11, was Canadian ISD’s annual Community Give Back Day, a day in which middle and high school students dedicate themselves to community service. In addition to boosting a student’s chances of acquiring scholarships and college entry, community service is good for the soul. Taking a break from academics to give back to the community is an integral part of what CISD hopes to instill in its students.

SOMETIMES BAD NEWS is good news. That’s how I see the news this week that Micron did not choose Lockhart, Texas as the location of its new chip manufacturing plant. Micron chose Clay, New York, a suburb of Syracuse. Why is the loss of a prospective 9,000 Micron jobs and 40,000 ancillary jobs a good thing?
