Tanya Holloway, Hemphill County Agrilife Family & Consumer Science Agent, received a Distinguished Service Award presented August 1 at the 2023 Texas Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals Conference. The event was held near Houston at Kema, Texas.

Holloway was one of three County Extension Agents statewide selected for this award, including Lorrie Coop, a District Extension Administrator in the Rolling Plains, and Megan Shaffer, a District 8 Extension Program Specialist & Youth Development.

The following is the statement about Holloway in the event program:

“Youth Leadership development is a passion Tanya Holloway has had for many years within the 4-H program, as well as the 16 years she spent in the classroom. It is very rewarding for her to see youth grow in their confidence and achieve things they never thought possible.

She has had numerous District Food Show, Food Challenge, and Fashion Show District winners, and a few State winners through the years. She has also had the honor to be an agent to several District and State 4-H Council members.

Under her leadership, 4-H members from Hemphill County have also attended State and National 4-H Congress, National 4-H Conference, GLOBE, and recently, Spain, on 4-H learning experiences. Tanya’s husband, Andy, is her ANR co-worker and her partner in all things. He is supportive of all her late evenings and nights helping their 4-H’ers. He is her rock.”
