Brandon Lavae “PaPa” Back, 62, of Darrouzett, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, in Perryton. A graveside service was held Saturday, April 30, at the Darrouzett Cemetery in Darrouzett, with Brad Altmiller leading the service. Viewing/visitation was held Friday and Saturday, April 29-30, at Boxwell Brothers in Booker. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton.

ROGER LEE FREEMAN

Roger Lee Freeman, 84, of Galveston, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 10 am, on Friday, May 13, at Central Christian Church with Rev. Tim Schomp officiating. Burial will follow at the La Marque City Cemetery. Roger’s family will receive visitors between 5 pm and 7 pm, on Thursday, May 12, at Central Christian Church, 2702 Avenue O-½, in Galveston. Music will be provided by his wife, Carol, with Pat Maddox accompanying on the flute.

LOIS ELAINE SCHEER LAUBHAN

Lois Elaine Scheer Laubhan, 80, was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma, on December 14, 1941, to Sam and Annie Scheer. She grew up in Follett, a community where love and watchfulness was expressed by a loving hand from relatives and friends, common in small communities all over the Great Plains. She passed on April 29, 2022.

Gene Whitaker Hunt—soldier, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and hero—was born on July 12, 1929, in Englewood, Colorado, and passed away at his home in Granbury on Sunday, March 20, 2022. Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 6, at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Graveside services with full military honors were held on Thursday, April 7, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

George Guinn Wilson, 78, of Archer City, formerly of Canadian, went to his heavenly home on April 16, 2022, in Archer City. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 20, at Carmichael-Whatley Canadian Chapel, with Ed Hedgecoke and Pastor Barry Hosford officiating. Burial followed at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Mark Steve Meek, 70, of Briscoe, passed away on April 17, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 23, from 5 pm-6:30 pm. Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, April 24, at Fort Elliott High School Auditorium with Erron Mercer, Bruce Johnson, and Ricky Pfeil officiating. Burial will follow in Gageby Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Kenneth “Wayne” Paul, 82, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Wayne requested that no services be held. There will be a family memorial for him when his ashes are returned to the ranch. Arrangements were under the direction of Scotty Schilling, funeral director, 102 S. Miller, in Follett.
