Lady Cats place second, led by McClendon in first, at Wolf Creek Classic meet

It was another strong showing for both the Canadian boys’ and girls’ varsity cross-country teams at the Wolf Creek Classic in Perryton last Saturday.

Canadian’s Lady Cats came in second place with 67 points, right behind Hooker, Oklahoma’s runners (52 points), who were the defending Class 2A state champions a year ago.

Wildcats make a statement in season opener with 49-14 win over Seminole

It was the exact start to the 2022 football season that Head Coach Chris Koetting and his team wanted to see. The Canadian Wildcats scored early and often, looking like a much more veteran team than a year ago, on the way to blasting Seminole, Oklahoma, 49-14 last Friday night to open the year at Wildcat Stadium.

CHS cross-country teams open season with top showings at Canyon Chicken Run

Canadian’s cross-country teams opened the 2022 season by picking up where they left off last year, with impressive showings at the Canyon 6-Mile Relay Chicken Run on Saturday. The Lady Cats won the small-school division of Class 3A and under, while the Wildcats placed third in their respective small-school division.

Canadian barrel racer Tamara Reinhardt has been busy. Reinhardt and her homebred mare, Yessir Imareddie, collected two consecutive first-place wins in their signature event during the weekend of Aug. 19-21—the first one in the Seward County PRCA Rodeo in Liberal, Kansas, and the second one in the Oregon Trail Rodeo at Hastings, Nebraska.
