Lady Cats place fourth at regional cross-country meet, earning second consecutive trip to state

Canadian’s Lady Cats are headed back to the UIL state cross-country meet for a second straight year. The Wildcats didn’t advance, ending their superb season during Tuesday’s Region I-3A cross-country meet at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.

Canadian Wildcat Junior League Football

The Canadian Wildcat Junior Football League’s fifth- and sixth-grade and thirdand fourth-grade teams finished their regular game schedule last weekend with backto- back losses to Sayre, Oklahoma, and will close out the season with a two-day tournament this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 29-30. The fifth- and sixth-grade Wildcats ended the season 4-2, and the third- and fourth-grade Cats finished with a 5-1 record. The end-of-year tournament will be held in Wheeler, with fifth- and sixth-grade Cats will taking on Clarendon in the first round which starts at 11 am on Field 2. The third- and fourth-grade Wildcats kick off at 2 pm on Field 1 against the winner of the first-round contest between Wheeler and Shamrock.

Cats pitch three strikes to Friona Chieftains on Thursday

Those seventh-grade Cats are still working on a perfect season, and were not about to let Friona get in their way.

Knee-deep in district play, Wildcats are picking up steam with Friona on deck

Canadian stayed hot last Friday night, shaking off a slow start to roar past the Spearman Lynx, thanks to a 42-3 rout at Lynx Stadium. The Wildcats have put together four wins in a row, improving to 5-2 overall on the year, and more importantly, staying atop the District 3-3A Division II standings at 2-0.

Canadian’s cross-country teams have had plenty of time off to rest up before their biggest meet of the year takes place this coming week. The Wildcats and Lady Cats are looking forward to a trip to Lubbock, as both hope to extend their seasons when they compete in the Region I-3A cross-country meet, set for Tuesday morning, Oct.

JV Wildcat and CMS Wildcat Football Reports

Canadian’s JV Wildcats took charge in the first quarter of last Thursday’s hometown showdown with the Lynx and never blinked. The Cats racked up a 20-6 advantage in the first quarter; held on to a 27-8 lead at halftime; and after a scoreless third quarter, answered the Lynx 25-yard scoring run with an airmailed Keelan Baileys-to-Jose Vargas pass to walk away with a 33-14 victory.
