CCC Bike-a-Thon fundraiser attracts 22 riders

Body
TheCanadianCommunityCenter hosted its annual bike-a-thon last Saturday, Aug. 21. Twenty-two riders took to the road and raised some much-needed funds for the CCC’s after-school programs. The weather was perfect for a morning ride. Cyclists cruised down Sixth Street from the football stadium to the walking bridge, and rode from one end of the bridge to the other as long as they could. Altogether, the pedal-pushers rode over 200 miles in about two hours! The winners were the riders who raised the most in donations. Ryatt Carr took the top prize in the youngest division. Beckett Beedy and Emery Timmons won their division, and the winner for the oldest division was Colby Schrader. Each of these winners took home a new bike. We would like to thank Dunnam Apparel for the great shirts, Michelsen Law for sponsoring, and the Julian family for driving support vehicles and helping out. Of course, the real MVPs were the riders and their sponsors. Thanks to everyone who made it possible.

First Canadian Education Foundation golf scramble draws a crowd, is deemed a success

Body
By any measure, last weekend’s first-ever two-person golf scramble was a complete success. Even by numbers alone, it was out-ofthe- park: 24 teams; 48 players; $17,000 in cash and prizes awarded; and over $7,500 raised for the Canadian Education Foundation. Not too shabby.
