If you’re a high schooler applying to college, a college student, or their parent, it’s time to fill out the 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form.

On Oct. 16 and 17, the CHS Wildcat Theatre will present two plays: Red Velvet Cake War written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten; and Commercial Unsuccess written by Theatre Instructor Mistie Walser and the Theatre Productions Class.

The Canadian Wildcat Band is preparing to compete in their first competition of the year this Saturday, Oct. 2, for the High Plains Marching Festival at Dick Bivins Stadium in Amarillo. The band will take the field at 2:15 pm after the Hereford band performs. We hope to see you there!

Next week (Sept. 26-Oct. 2) is Banned Books week. The American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom keeps track of censorship reported in the media. OIF compiles the Top 10 Most Challenged Books based on these reports.

AUSTIN—Friends of Texas Public Schools, a nonprofit, grassroots organization shining a light on all that is right with Texas public schools, is hosting its 17th annual awards dinner on Wed., Nov. 17 at the Baylor Club, McLane Stadium in Waco.

Canadian High School Principal James A. Bryant has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field.

On Tuesday, the museum hosted an art reception for the Canadian Middle School and High School students of the Wildcat Art Room.

In recent news, News Channel 10 Sports hosted a battle of the bands between the Tulia High School and Canadian High School bands, in which both of those communities vote for the band they think should win.

Canadian High School senior Leslie Villa was crowned 2021 Homecoming Queen in a ceremony held during halftime of Friday night’s game, pitting the Canadian Wildcats against the Bushland Falcons. Villa was escorted by her father, Gabriel Reyes, during the ceremony.
