Canadian’s Mattie Boyd and Samantha Krehbiel will take center stage for the Lady Cat track team when they compete at the UIL Class 3A state track-and-field meet today (Thursday, May 6) at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

A senior-laden Canadian 1600-meter relay team gets set for one final hurrah, to put a staple on an already tremendous year, when they compete at the UIL Class 3A state trackand-field meet this evening (Thursday, May 6) under the bright lights of Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

The Canadian softball team saw their season come to an end at the hands of Idalou last week in the Class 3A bi-district round. Idalou won the first game last Thursday in Canadian 20-2, followed by a 22-4 victory in Idalou to complete the sweep Saturday.

A dozen CHS Wildcat and Lady Cat tennis players competed in the Regional Tennis Tournament held on April 26-27 at Abilene’s Rose Park Tennis Center. None advanced to state, but Coach Tim Fletcher was pleased with their efforts.

Canadian High School’s track-and-field teams made a superb medal haul from last weekend’s Region I-3A meet at Abilene Christian University. In total, the Lady Cats and Wildcats combined to qualify two individuals on the girls’ side and the boys’ 1600-meter relay team for competition at the UIL Class 3A state track meet, which will be held in Austin’s Mike A.

Canadian High School’s Lady Cat softball team ended its regular season with a 16-4 loss to River Road last Thursday at home. The Lady Cats were unable to pull themselves out of an early 6-0 hole after two innings, as River Road sustained the momentum.

Gracen Walker, onboard RC Shiner Doc “Wes,” closed out her college showing career with the Texas Tech University Ranch Horse Team last weekend in Amarillo by winning the inaugural National Ranch and Stock Horse Alliance (NRSHA) Collegiate championship. Individually, Walker placed third overall in the Non-Pro All-Around division. “Along with the guidance and encouragement from our coach, Justin Stanton,” Walker said, “I am proud to have been a part of a team that continuously strives for excellence. I am thankful for the endless support of all the great people I am surrounded by,”

Register now for Canadian Lady Cats Basketball Camp, May 24-26 Girls entering the first through ninth grades are invited to participate in the Canadian Lady Cats’ Basketball Camp, which will be held May 24-26. Students entering grades 1st-5th will meet from 8-10 am, and those entering grades 6th-9th will meet from 10:30 am-1 pm each day.
