CCC Wildcat Baseball splits wins in Perryton tourney The CCC Wildcat Baseball team competed this week in a playoff tournament at Perryton, winning their first round Monday evening in a 7-6 extra inning victory over Petersen. Canadian lost a close game versus Booker by 1 point in the second round, but according to Coach Nate Lee, played their hearts out.

Canadian High School may have said goodbye to their special Class of 2021 at last Saturday’s graduation ceremony, but a handful of athletes are getting one more chance to showcase their skills as part of the annual K101 Classic Bowl in Woodward, Oklahoma, next week.

Last Thursday’s Canadian High School Athletic Banquet gathered together athletes of every sport—and many from several sports—and their families and coaches for the annual presentation of honors in each field. Awards were presented for courage and character and physical prowess and sheer determination, at the culmination of what can only be called a stellar year in CHS sports.

The Baker Elementary School’s annual track meet took place on Monday, May 17, at Wildcat Stadium. BES students participated in several different track-and-field events, including long jump, softball throw, running races, sack races, and more. Last Saturday, the Canadian Community Center hosted our 2nd Annual Bike-A-Thon. Forty riders took to the streets and walking bridge, and rode an astounding 534 miles altogether in just three hours.

Canadian Elementary School second-graders participated in the CES Running Club again this year. As club members, the students have 35 minutes to run, walk, or jog the track for a total of 780 minutes throughout the year. Second-graders are asked to set a goal for themselves and to reevaluate that goal as needed. All the second-graders did a fantastic job, with a total of 1,438 miles. When the bright lights come on, the Canadian Wildcats show up, and they did once again at the UIL Class 3A state track-and-field championships on the grand stage of the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin last Thursday night.

The annual Canadian Elementary School track meet is a sure sign that the end of school is near. From sack races to long jumps to the always popular tug-of-war, the competition is vigorous, the team spirit is contagious, and the opportunity for both teachers and students to blow off a little steam outside is essential.
