Getting to know our board members: Jan’et Schaef
As we continue our series of introducing you to our board members, this week, I’d like to share some information about our vice president, Jan’et Schaef. Schaef has lived in Hemphill County all of her life. She was raised in the Gem City community. Her husband, Joe Schaef, is also from this area.

Texas Quilt Museum exhibit promises a dazzling experience
LA GRANGE—For the first time since the 2011 opening of the Texas Quilt Museum, a display cycle will be dedicated to a single exhibit— but what an exhibit it is. Visitors will be able to view all of the accepted entries from the museum’s first-ever juried exhibit, Seeing in Color.
'Sonnet: Death Valley' exhibit at National Cowgirl Museum
FORT WORTH—The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is pleased to welcome the new exhibition Sonnet: Death Valley by Rima Canaan Lee. The exhibition will be on view in the Anne Marion Gallery from Aug. 18 until Oct. 2.
Annual Sacred Heart Jamaica delights this weekend
The Sacred Heart Catholic Church brought a cheerful crowd to its annual Jamaica this past Saturday at Jones Pavilion. The Jamaica is Sacred Heart’s major fundraiser and always features an abundance of authentic Mexican and American food, as well as games and music.

The Wolf Creek Heritage Museum will be showcasing the paintings of Arlene Walker through the month of September. A reception will be held for the artist on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2 pm, at the museum, which is located at 13310 Hwy 305 in Lipscomb.
