The Postscript: Working at Gratitude

Body
I have always loved Thanksgiving. I love that it is a holiday built around a full table and homemade treats. I love the recipes handed down on index cards that only get made once a year, traditions that bring back childhood memories, the chance to use linen napkins, and the idea that sitting around a table—just sitting around a table—is reason enough celebrate.

Lights were hung in the trees with care last weekend at Sunset Park. Local residents Joe and Dawn Dial, and Sherye Talley lent a helping hand in adorning sunset parks trees with festive lights to celebrate the season. The Canadian Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to host the Christmas in Canadian first annual Lighting of Sunset Park on Saturday, December 5.
Canadian Chamber of Commerce President Sherye Talley wraps the lower branches of a tree with Christmas lights, while Dawn Dial goes up in a lift to engineer the upper branches.

What’s Cookin’ in Canadian

I’ve been making this William-Sonoma cranberry sauce recipe for over 25 years. Once you make it, I bet you will be too. This recipe is excellent with poultry or almost any meat, hot or cold. I stock cranberries in the freezer when they’re in season because we enjoy this recipe with wild game, especially venison.

Christina Hadaway was lucky to catch her program speaker this week in his offseason from baseball. Addison Russ, a 26-yearold Amarillo native, and son-in-law to Baker Elementary and CMS principals, Krista and Drew Daniel, is one to watch. Russ graduated from Amarillo’s Randall High in 2013, and recently finished his degree in interdisciplinary studies through Houston Baptist. He and wife, Kaitlyn, wed in 2017 and followed Kaitlyn’s family to Canadian in 2019. Kaitlyn works at The Citadelle, and their married life has been a roller-coaster to say the least!
