CA Kyle Miller explains ‘Pass the Trash’ bill for law enforcement

Body
County Attorney Kyle Miller was invited to speak at last week’s Rotary Club meeting about House Bill 4286, proposed legislation which presents viable, workable solutions to “passing the trash” when it comes to law enforcement officers. The bill allows law enforcement agencies to police themselves, but adds necessary accountability and protection for those to whom it matters most: the citizens of Texas.

The Postscript: Nocturnal Negotiations

Body
It’s amazing that anyone shares a bed. I know there are plenty of married and cohabiting couples who have separate beds, or even separate bedrooms, and I can see the logic in avoiding the snoring, the thrashing, the different sleep schedules, and the need to negotiate the complicated issue of bedding.

The Postscript: Out Like a Lion

Body
March is winding down, and my sister-in-law, Lori, is going with it. There is too much food and too many flowers because that is what we do when someone is dying, when we don’t know what else to do as, gradually, the unthinkable becomes accepted and even ordinary.

What’s Cookin’ in Canadian

Body
I rarely find recipes for chicken legs that seem interesting. This one from Jacques Pepin’s Simple and Healthy Cooking is absolutely delightful.

We have a core group of volunteers that is helping us process the recentlyacquired Julius C. Born Store collection. They have placed over 600 photographs and postcards into archival sleeves, categorized them, numbered them, and scanned them. Collectively, these volunteers have spent almost 30 hours on this one collection, and we haven’t even started to enter the photographs and postcards into our database, much less process the Born Store artifacts (knickknacks that Born sold in his store).

OK, I confess. The pictured scone is the lone survivor of a dozen purchased at Central Market by a guest visiting over spring break. The fact that they were so delicious got me scouring the internet for recipes. I found this one by Ina Garten, The Barefoot Contessa, on foodnetwork.com. I will make them soon but not now. I need to take a spring break from eating. KIM B. McKINNEY
