Local man escapes serious injury in truck/train collision

Body Last Thursday morning at approximately 6:32 am, a 2009 GMC pickup driven by Antonio Capetillo Jr. of Canadian was involved in a crash with a BNSF trail at the Purcell Street crossing in Canadian. Closed-circuit video was obtained to determine the details of the crash.
The driver of this GMC pickup got lucky Thursday morning, when he accelerated into a lowered crossing arm and struck the side of a passing train. The pickup was not so lucky. Law enforcement officials were unsure what had caused the accident, but cited Capetillo with disregarding a railroad crossing signal.

Body On April 19, CISD Superintendent Lynn Pulliam announced that Megan Longoria had accepted the district’s offer to serve as the next Canadian Middle School principal. Longoria takes the place of Drew Daniel, who was hired as principal of Stanton High School in Stanton ISD.
