Both CMS football teams traveled to Bushland last Thursday for their season debuts. It was a rough one for the seventh-grade squad, who were held scoreless by the Falcons in a 36-0 loss. The eighth-grade Cats turned the tables, defeating the Falcons 28-42.

Wildcat win slips away in brutal fourth quarter

It looked like all but a win for Canadian until Iowa Park caught fire, scoring on four straight possessions in the fourth quarter, leaving the Wildcats stunned in a disappointing 28-21 loss Friday night at Hawks Stadium.

JV Cats ground Iowa Park Hawks in 21-6 win at home

The Canadian Wildcat junior varsity claimed a quick 14-0 lead over Iowa Park in the first quarter of last Thursday’s game here, added another 7 points in the third quarter, and held the Hawks scoreless until the fourth, to escape with a 21-6 victory.

Cross-country teams pick up the pace at Wolf Creek Classic

Canadian’s high school and middle school crosscountry teams looked strong in Saturday’s Wolf Creek Classic at Lake Fryer. In their first competitive outing, the eighth-grade boys team completed the 2-mile course first overall, led with a 1-2-3 finish by Julian Dominguez, Jose Vargas, and Juan Vargas.

Wildcat JV dominates WT Comanches in Thursday debut

The Canadian Wildcat junior varsity opened their 2020 season in convincing fashion last Thursday, vanquishing the West Texas Comanches 60-6 on the road. The Cats posted 48 first-half points while holding the Comanches scoreless through three quarters, before WT found the end zone for their only 6 points of the game.

Course closed next Wednesday morning Golf Club Manager Martha Cooper announced Tuesday that the Canadian Golf Course will be closed next week on Wednesday morning, Sept. 9, to provide time for greens maintenance.
