Abraham leads Wildcat XC team to first at Lubbock Invitational Saturday

Wildcat cross-country runner George Abraham led his field in the boys varsity 5K event on Saturday, completing the run in 18:22 for first place, ahead of teammates Rylun Clark (4th) and Ivan Robledo (9th), Jaxton Valenzuela (16th), Ethan Flowers (17th), and Cade Dunbar (19th), all of whom were in the top-20 and contributed to the Canadian team’s first-place. Anderson Perkins (24th), Lino Lugo (26th), and Eric Huntress (27th) finished the 3.2-mile run, which took place in 95-degree heat at Lubbock’s Mae Simmons Park.

Morgan Brady has served as an assistant coach/defensive line coach on the Canadian staff for the past nine years. The 2000 Valley graduate played football and graduated from Oklahoma Panhandle State. Before coming to Canadian, the 38-year-old had assistant coaching stints in Florida, and at Wheeler and Randall High Schools.

Jorge Dominguez, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound senior, is in his first full season as the starting center and defensive end for the Wildcats. Dominguez has made all three starts at center, snapping and protecting quarterback Joshua Culwell.

CMS Wildcats trade wins with Perryton at home

In their first home games last Thursday, Canadian’s Middle School Wildcats posted a decisive win and a very close loss against the Perryton Rangers. The eighth-grade Cats (2- 0) only gave up 6 points to the Rangers, while racking up five touchdowns, and a recovered fumble for a sixth one to ice the cake.

Final scrambles results announced

Thursday night scrambles at the Canadian Golf Course ended last week for the season. The winning team, with 7 under par, was Travis Lovins, Cary Priest, Coleman Cleveland, Misty Walker, and Brooke McQuiddy. Dewayne Wilkinson and Meagan Burns won the men’s and women’s long-drive contest, respectively, while closestto-the-pin winners were Wes Hathaway on No. 2 and Brandon Stroebel on No. 4. A Super Scramble will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3. More details will follow.

Cats clip Falcons in 46-19 roadshow

The Canadian Wildcats put up 28 unanswered points midway through the second quarter and into the third on their way to a convincing 46-19 victory over Bushland on Friday night at Falcon Stadium. The Wildcats were able to bounce back from their loss to Iowa Park, improving to 2-1 on the year.
No. 8 Ethan Jackson and No. 63 Corbin Throgmorton drop this Falcon for a loss of yards.

Josh Culwell, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior, is in his first season as the starting quarterback for the Wildcats. Culwell played extremely well during Canadian’s 46-19 rout of Bushland on Friday—torching the Falcons’ secondary— completing 18-of-31 passes for 291 yards with an impressive five touchdowns.
