Cats get back in groove with back-to-back wins

After a district opening loss to Bushland, the Canadian Wildcat basketball team seems to have found their groove, winning back-to-back games against River Road and Spearman. The Wildcats earned their first district victory against River Road last Friday, cruising to a 66-45 win at home, followed by a huge road win at Spearman 45-38 on Tuesday.

The Canadian Lady Cats continued their extremely hot start to district by claiming a huge road win at Bushland 51-46 on Tuesday night. The clutch victory over a very talented Lady Falcons team in the early portion of the District 1-3A schedule has solidified how much Canadian has improved in year two under Head Coach Aaron Marks.

Canadian had trouble clawing itself out of a first-half, double-digit deficit, eventually falling to the Bushland Falcons, 68-54, on the road in their District 1-3A opener Tuesday night. The Wildcats—barely a month removed from winning a Class 3A Division II state football championship—were only playing their fourth game of a basketball season that started back in November for most teams.

The state champion Canadian Wildcats dominated the 2020 3A Division II All-District Team honors this year, in much the same way they dominated most of their opponents. They quietly and consistently got down to business, game after game, like a well-oiled, perfectly synchronized machine.
