After waiting out last week’s unbearable cold and icy weather, Canadian’s Lady Cat softball team finally got their 2021 campaign started on Tuesday afternoon, nabbing a season-opening extra-inning win at Booker, 7-5.

Wildcat basketball season ends too soon with playoff loss to Abernathy

It was a bitter end to an ever-improving season for the Canadian Wildcat basketball team. The Cats showed tremendous grit in their Class 3A bi-district contest in Panhandle last Friday, but fell short against Abernathy in a 47-42 final.

Former Lady Cat Haevyn Risley’s next-level defense in the spotlight Senior guard Haevyn Risley leads the 2021 Midwestern State University women’s basketball team in total rebounds and rebounds per game with 85 and 6.5, respectively. Those impressive stats rank her eighth in the Lone Star Conference for total rebounds and 10th for rebounds per game.
