OBITUARY: ORLA B. CURNUTT

Body

PORT LAVACA — Orla Boyde Curnutt, 88, of Port Lavaca, passed away, Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was born on July 21, 1935 in Canadian, Texas, to the late Orla Hezekiah and Marie Elizabeth Curnutt.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Curnutt; daughter, Deanne Weise (Rev. Keith R. Weise); and son, Greg Curnutt. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Joyce Givhan and Betty Karen Eggleston.

Melvin Lee Walser, 87, of Canadian passed into his heavenly home September 20, 2023, in Canadian.

A public viewing will be held from 1-8 pm on Saturday, September 23, and from 1-8 pm on Sunday, September 24, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home’s Canadian location. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 5:30 pm on Sunday, September 24, at the Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home located in Canadian.

OBITUARY: JACK LLOYD GILL

Jack Lloyd Gill was born December 6, 1931, in Lipscomb County Texas to Leland Henry Gill and Clara Cocanowen McAllister. Jack passed from this life on September 13, 2023, at the age of 91.

Jack began his adult life serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was proud of being a veteran. After the war, he went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad until retirement. He loved to dance and especially enjoyed square dancing. He loved to visit and never met a stranger.

OBITUARY: KATHY MAINS MCNEES

Kathy Mains McNees, 72, of Glazier, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

Kathy was born on Oct. 11, 1950, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Gene and Dorthy Mains. She married Thomas Micheal McNees (Mickey) on June 26, 1970. On May 14, 1972, she gave birth to their only daughter, Cassie Michelle McNees.

Survivors include her husband, Mickey McNees, of Glazier; daughter, Cassie Michelle McNees, of Canadian; sister, LaQuita Jordan, of Crescent, Oklahoma; and brother Eddie Mains and wife Donna, of Crescent Oklahoma.
