Jack began his adult life serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was proud of being a veteran.

Kathy was born on Oct. 11, 1950, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Gene and Dorthy Mains. She married Thomas Micheal McNees (Mickey) on June 26, 1970. On May 14, 1972, she gave birth to their only daughter, Cassie Michelle McNees.
