The public is invited to the CHS Theatre Department’s Annual Spring Showcase, which will be presented at the Texas Crown Performance Hall this Sunday, April 24. Three plays will be staged, including this year’s one-act play, The Sweet Science of Bruising, which earned top acting and technical honors at the district, bi-district, and area rounds of competition, but failed to advance to regionals. The showcase will also include performances of two one-act plays by the freshman students—Tracks by Peter Tarsi, and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Dwayne Hartford. After a dessert intermission, students will stage their final public performance of The Sweet Science of Bruising. The showcase will begin at 6 pm with back-to-back performances, followed by a dessert intermission at 7:30 pm, and the final performance of Sweet Science at 8 pm. Tickets will be available in advance for adults/$10 and students/$2, or for purchase at the door for adults/$12 and students/$3. Advance tickets can be purchased from any theatre student, of by contacting theatre instructor Mistie Walser at 806.255.0157.
