Let’s Play Ball, Canadian!

Body
WE HAD A FANTASTIC evening this past Monday as the CCC honored Larry Dunnam and officially opened our 2022 baseball season! One hundred and fifteen players assembled at Larry Dunnam Field for the opening ceremonies. It was a wonderful sight and encapsulates what we strive for every day at the CCC. It is an honor and a privilege to continue in Larry’s footsteps as we provide the next generation the opportunity to love the game.
The Buffalo Wallow Chapter of the Young Marines conducted flag ceremonies during Monday evening’s tribute to the late Larry Dunnam, and opening ceremonies of the 2022 baseball season. Chapter members are Aaron Henderson, Ryan and Hudson Purcell, Eli Dial, Micah Monty, Nathanael Page, Trenton Oatman, and Eric Wilson, and their leaders, Jacob Purcell, Justin Dial, and Max Monty.

THANK YOU so much for the coverage of the recent fires. I can only imagine the duty you feel cover the countless stories you encounter, and the desire to find the viewpoints of everyone involved. From my eyes, the stories and announcements are deeply felt and appreciated.

The Fire Whistle

Body
The Fire Whistle went off a couple of weeks ago. Again. That’s really no surprise, given that now we seem to have red flag/high-wind warnings on a daily basis. I was at a meeting, and a gentleman standing near me observed that, “They really should do away with that thing. Everybody has cellphones, so this is a totally unnecessary disruption of the public peace. It serves no purpose anymore.”

Blessed with a fire

THE SIRENS WAILED, and we all reached for our scanners. Where’s it at?! Which way is the wind blowing?! Then an eerie call came over the radio. “Everyone come to Mendota road; this may be our only chance to make a stand.” Mendota road?! We thought. That’s right by our place!!
