Tim Reid of Amarillo—an agent with the FBI for 26 years—announced on Nov. 23 his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Texas State Senate District 31. The seat became open when Kel Seliger announced in October that he would not seek re-election after serving the district since 2004.

Sylvia Guerrero announced her candidacy for Hemphill County and District clerk this week, saying she would seek the Republican Party nomination in the March 1, 2022, primary election. “I have been employed in the Hemphill County and District Clerk's office since March 1, 2014, starting as deputy clerk, and am now chief deputy clerk,” Guerrero said. “I have lived in Canadian for 27 years, and graduated from CHS in 1999. My husband, Hugo, and I are proud parents of Israel, who graduated from CHS in 2020; Elizabeth, who is in ninth grade; and Hector, who is in seventh grade.”
