Public Utility Commission releases reliability reform study on Texas electric market design

AUSTIN—The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) today released an independent study commissioned to analyze and recommend design updates to the Texas wholesale electricity market that will strengthen current and long-term reliability reforms to the state’s electric grid. The study was done in alignment with the economic and operational reliability principles outlined in the PUCT’s Blueprint for Wholesale Market Design, which was unanimously adopted by commissioners in December 2021.

Universal blood type impacted due to supply chain issues; Type O-negative donors needed

AMARILLO–Coffee Memorial Blood Center is losing hundreds of Type O-negative blood units a month due to recent blood-bag shortages. Type O-negative is the only universal blood type, which means it can be transfused in an emergency to any blood recipients, regardless of blood type.

Street work continues

Concrete finishers continued street repairs on Nelson Street last week as part of the TxDOT Highway 60/83 Utility Replacement Project. In these photos, taken by City Manager Joe Jarosek, concrete samples are collected in cylinders for laboratory analysis to ensure that engineering specifications are met and workers finish out concrete on Nelson Avenue in front of the Best Western Oasis Inn.

The company encourages customers who are looking to start new electric or natural gas service, or conduct other business with the company, to ensure they are calling Xcel Energy directly at 1.800.895.4999 to avoid the potential for scammers to collect information or money from them.
