Panhandle Gives 2021 campaign launches next week

AMARILLO—The 6th Annual #ThePanhandleGives campaign is Nov. 22-30. This year, 175 organizations spanning 20 counties are participating. For the second year in a row, the Amarillo Area Foundation, who hosts the event, will cover all the online donation fees. That means when you give online, 100 percent of your gift goes to the organization and will have additional money added to it from the Amplification Fund.

Timely updates made to Veteran’s Monument at courthouse

The Veteran’s Monument on the Courthouse Square got a new look last week. Members of American Legion Post 56 joined Judge George Briant to inspect the two new service branch emblems that have been added. The new emblems recognize and honor the men and women of the Coast Guard and the newly formed Space Force.

The status of housing in Canadian was at the top of the Economic Development Council’s agenda last week. Invited to participate in the discussion were Mark Meek and his daughter, Jocelyn Timmons, developers of the Southern Hills residential development on the south edge of Canadian.
