This softball field at the County Recreation Complex has been the focus of a major capital improvement project by Canadian ISD for several months now. The work began with demolition of the existing backstop and press box, followed by the installation of new spectator bleachers, a press box and backstop (in photo below), and updated dugouts and additional storage (photo at right). With the start of spring sports and the Lady Cat softball season just around the corner, the project is nearing completion, and will be a dramatic upgrade for both spectators and athletes.

After a rough start to district play, the Canadian Wildcats finally broke through by holding off Dalhart in a 31-28 battle Tuesday night at home. It didn’t come easy by any means.

Canadian barrel racer Tamara Reinhardt and her homebred mare, Yessir Imareddie, smoked the competition at last weekend’s PRCA championship rodeo in Park City, Kansas. Reinhardt claimed first place in the barrels with a time of 13.64 seconds and a $979 payout.

The Canadian Lady Cats remain unbeaten this week through District 1-3A play, thanks to a come-from-behind home win against Bushland 45-42 last Friday, before blowing out River Road by an eye-opening 99-6 score Tuesday night.

It’s been a rough start to the district schedule for the Canadian Wildcats’ basketball team. Canadian fell behind early before losing to Bushland 53-32 in a district opener last Friday.

It’s been a fast and positive start for the No. 1-ranked Canadian Lady Cats to open up District 1-3A play.

The Canadian Wildcat basketball team finished the non-district portion of the schedule last Friday with a matchup at Borger before a bye Tuesday night, as they get set to open district play Friday night.
