Body My sister-in-law, Patricia, made this Lemon Cake from a Ina Garten recipe she found on the Food Network website. Using lemons from her own Meyer Lemon tree—they live in Arizona—it was sweet and tart, and by far, the best I have ever tasted.

Body Local counselor, Anna Needham, MA, LPC-S, was our program this week to help bring attention to May being mental health awareness month. Over the past seven years, Needham has presented to our club a few different times.

Body Canadian High School alumna Maddie Shields was one of three Honors College scholars named recently by Lubbock Christian University. Maddie earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at LCU, and was recipient of LCU’s May 2021 Honors College Dean’s Award.

Body Helen Olivia Ward was born March 27 to Bryce and Haley Ward, weighed 7 lb 7 oz, and was 19 inches long. Walter (almost 4) and Willis (almost 2) are loving “baby sister.” I’m not sure they realize she has a real name.

Body Our club has enjoyed the musically-talented Alex Moreno as a program several times before, but this time was unique as he brought three equally talented friends from Rice University, where Alex is finishing his freshman year.

Body Last week, we had a very interesting group of ladies stop by the museum. You may have even heard them as they drove through town on the highway. They are members of the Motor Maids—one of the oldest ladies-only motorcycle groups in America. These women were from all over Texas.

Body Here’s another great dish from my Taste of Home cookbook. It’s a nice combination of seafood and a bountiful garden vegetable.
