Amarillo Museum of Art has Terry Allen exhibition

Terry Allen, a visual artist and songwriter, is the subject of a new exhibition at the Amarillo Museum of Art. Scheduled for May 20 through August 27, the show includes prints, drawings, and other works on paper spanning more than 40 years of creative output. Also in the exhibition is a mixed media sculptural installation on loan from Ree and Jun Kaneko, title Metronome (“Dugout” Stage III), 2001. Terry Allen and Jun Kaneko both attended Chouinard Institute of Art in Los Angeles in the 1960’s and have remained friends since.

2023 Children’s Fishing Tourney set for Saturday, June 3

It’s that time of year for young fisherguys and gals! The Children’s Fishing Tournament 2023 will take place on Saturday, June 3, at Lake Fryer in Ochiltree County. The event is hosted annually by the Wolf Creek Improvement Board.

No permits will be needed that day. It is a free fishing day for all ages. Registration begins at 8 am at the pavilion located east of The Lobo restaurant. There is a fee of $1 per contestant. All proceeds are dedicated for improvements to the lake.

Ryli Pruitt and David Morales to wed May 20 in Abilene

Denise Pruitt of Bangs and Jack Pruitt of Gatesville announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Ryli Pruitt of Bangs, to David Morales of Canadian. He is the son of David and Isabel Morales of Canadian.

The bride-elect graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in speech-language pathology at West Texas A&M University.

Katie Jo Lingo and Payton Collier to wed May 19 in Belton

Mark and Jo Beth Lingo of College Station announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Katie Jo Lingo, to Payton Collier, son of Kirk and Michelle Collier of Hooker, Oklahoma, formerly of Canadian.

The bride-elect graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in College Station in 2020, and will graduate this August from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations.
