Individuals who oversee and participate in the administration of elections to include poll workers, volunteers, and election officers, help safeguard the integrity of the democratic process. The FBI continues to prioritize identifying, mitigating, and investigating threats targeting election workers and provides the following information to assist the public in reporting threats of violence against election workers.

2022 Tour of Homes welcomes visitors to four sites—two homes and two historic churches

This year, for the first time, two historic local churches will be included in Canadian’s Fall Foliage Festival Tour of Homes. In addition to the churches, the beautiful homes of Alan and Laurie Hale, at 919 South 4th St., and Beverly and Bryan Stephenson, at 1511 Locust, will also be open for the tour.

Canadian ISD board seeks voter approval in special Nov. 8 tax rate election

The Canadian ISD Board has ordered a special election for the purpose of a voter-approved tax rate election to be held on Nov. 8. CISD has set the overall 2022 tax rate at $1.1646. Even though this tax rate is reduced by almost 11 cents from the 2021 CISD tax rate of $1.2734, a voterapproved tax rate election is required because the board added three golden pennies to the maintenance & operating (M&O) portion of our tax rate.

Canadian River Beach Club announces winners in 14th Annual Calf Fry and Cook-Off contests

The Canadian River Beach Club’s 14th Annual Calf Fry and BBQ Cook-Off is in the books this week after a beautiful day of cooking, feasting, and festing Saturday. Nineteen teams from the tri-state area fired up their grills and cookers to compete in the International Bar-B-Que Cookers Association-sanctioned event, and shared their epicurean works with both judges and a crowd of volunteer taste-testers, who roamed the Jones Pavilion area, relaxed in lawn chairs, perused the craft and trade show booths, and enjoyed games and bouncy toys as the day grew warmer.
