CANADIAN—April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and CASA of the High Plains is raising awareness of the need for more dedicated members of the community to step up and become CASA volunteers, and help end child abuse and neglect, through supporting children and their families.

Jon Dumbauld shares Fort Bragg adventures

Jon Dumbauld was among 300 people invited to take part in a Special Operations Command presentation at Fort Bragg. This annual event allows participants an opportunity to see the capabilities of the Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF) up close. It is a chance to gain deeper insight into military life, equipment, training, and missions. During his time there, Dumbauld was able to see some of the base, including a Memorial Wall, where two soldiers stand guard 24/7, much like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. A full city has been built within Fort Bragg for training purposes.

FEMA: You may qualify for coronavirus funeral assistance

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought overwhelming grief to many families. FEMA’s mission is to help people before, during, and after disasters, and to help ease some of the financial stress and burden caused by the virus. To that end, FEMA has announced that it is providing financial assistance for CO- VID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after Jan. 20, 2020.

Maternal grandparents are David and Sue Tubb. Fraternal grandparents are Dr. Tom and Sharon Stallter. Maternal greatgrandmother is Pauline Tubb and paternal great-grandfather is Dale Terrell.
