FEMA funding is available for Residential Safe Room installation

The Panhandle Regional Planning Commission (PRPC) reminds Panhandle homeowners that there are resources available to assist with the installation of a tornado shelter in or around their residence. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has stated that a tornado shelter, or safe room, “can help provide near-absolute protection for you and your family.”

Marc Crooks is badly burned in explosion at Energy Transfer site near Lake Marvin Road

A Canadian man was severely burned in a gas explosion that occurred last Wednesday evening at a natural gas processing location about 9 miles east of Canadian on Lake Marvin Road. Energy Transfer LP employee Marc Crooks, 42, had arrived at the location sometime before 8:40 pm and pulled his pickup up to a frac tank when his engine died.

TxDOT employees recognized as Texans Caring for Texans

This included several employees from both the Amarillo and Childress districts of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)—all of whom were recognized for their outstanding service to the state and the communities they serve.
