We have a core group of volunteers that is helping us process the recentlyacquired Julius C. Born Store collection. They have placed over 600 photographs and postcards into archival sleeves, categorized them, numbered them, and scanned them. Collectively, these volunteers have spent almost 30 hours on this one collection, and we haven’t even started to enter the photographs and postcards into our database, much less process the Born Store artifacts (knickknacks that Born sold in his store).

Canadian’s boys and girls track teams competed at the Bobcat Relays at Fair Park Stadium in Childress last Thursday evening. The Canadian boys team dominated the meet, totaling 234 points, which was 91 points ahead of second-place Childress (143).

When rising COVID-19 numbers caused the relocation of last year’s invitation-only Ram National Circuit Finals, Canadian barrel racer Tamara Reinhardt was disappointed to have missed her opportunity to compete in the Kissimmee, Florida, event. The finals were held in the Stampede Arena in Greeley, Colorado, instead, and Reinhardt and her mare, Yessir Imareddie, finished out of the money following a very successful year.

In two county commissioners’ meetings held last month, Judge George Briant presented reviews of bills that are on the move in Austin, as the 87th Legislature really starts to roll, and that have earned notches on county officials’ watchlists around the state.
