USFWS extends public comment on proposed Dunes Sagebrush Lizard listing

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) is extending the public comment period seeking public input on a proposal to list the dunes sagebrush lizard as endangered under the Endangered Species Act. The public comment period will now be open for 90 days, closing October 2, 2023.

TSSWCB requests proposals for Nonpoint Source Grants

TEMPLE– The Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB) is requesting proposals for watershed assessment, planning, implementation, demonstration, and education projects seeking funding under the FY2024 Nonpoint Source Grant Program. Proposed projects should focus on agricultural and/or silvicultural nonpoint source pollution prevention and abatement activities within the boundaries of impaired or threatened watersheds.

Texas Drilling Permit and Completion Statistics/July 2023

AUSTIN-The Railroad Commission of Texas issued a total of 772 original drilling permits in July 2023. The total includes 681 to drill new oil or gas wells, 6 to re-enter plugged wellbores and 73 for re-completions of existing wellbores.

The breakdown of well types for total original drilling permits in July 2023 is:  145 oil, 65 gas, 521 oil and gas, 35 injection, and six other permits.

Comptroller Distributes $1.2 Billion in Monthly Sales Tax Revenue to Local Governments

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for August, 2.8 percent more than in August 2022. These allocations are based on sales made in June by businesses that report tax monthly and on sales made in April, May and June by quarterly filers.
