The museum is open, and we have the appropriate practices in place to keep everyone safe. We also hope everyone is practicing common-sense safety measures. Due to the pandemic, our activities are greatly reduced, so I have no news on our activities.

It has been months of quarantine for many of us, and the urge to get out of the house and enjoy the warmer weather is palpable. Summer during COVID-19 isn’t quite the same as years past, but that doesn’t mean summer 2020 has to be a bummer.

Curt McPherson hosted Lacy Hanes and Meagan Betts of Canadian River Beach Club as our program. Lacy gave a brief background on the CRBC, stating that a loose CRBC started in 2008 with a chili cook-off to help raise money for state football rings.

Well, I have to say that this 4th of July is one for the history books, but not necessarily one I want to remember. Normally, the 4th of July is one of our busiest days, and we would have had well over a 150 visitors. This year, we had two visitors. Just two.

I have been asked a lot of questions about George Davidson. This uncle of Augusta’s is such an interesting man and there is always plenty of information about him. I have always been interested in the history of the ships named after him.

My husband, Peter, and I miss having a dog. I see a lot of dogs on the trail during my daily hike, and so Peter (who is always full of good ideas—usually about things I should do) suggested I carry dog treats.

This recipe comes from my favorite cook and sister-in-law Patricia in Arizona. From America’s test kitchen recipe collection, she said it was the most delicious she has tasted. Not a traditional pie crust, this one is made with vanilla wafers and shredded coconut. - KIM B.
