Admission to the City Swimming Pool was free on Memorial Day, and the sun was convincingly warm. This crew of lifeguards, and new pool manager Parker Lee, were ready to get to work at 1 pm Monday afternoon as eager swimmers came through the gates.

Canadian’s annual Memorial Day service will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 30, at Edith Ford Cemetery. As is traditional, the service will be conducted by American Legion Post 56. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Jones Pavilion.

The music is back. Following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, tickets are now on sale for the Canadian River Music Festival, scheduled for Saturday, June 11, at Jones Pavilion.

The temperature outside of City Hall was warm, topping out around 85 degrees Monday evening. In the shade, with a 15-mph breeze, it didn’t seem so bad.

Families nationwide are scrambling to find baby formula amid a widespread shortage. Rural families are likely having an even harder time since there are fewer local places to buy formula, and because families who use federal assistance can only buy certain formulas.
