Wildcat junior varsity bests Bulldogs, preps for Perryton

The Canadian Wildcat junior varsity took their A-game on the road last Thursday to Highland Park’s Hornet Stadium, where they delivered a 51-0 shellacking to the Plainview Bulldogs.

That game was as close as it was ever going to get when the opening buzzer sounded.

The Wildcats left nothing in doubt, posting 44 points in the first two quarters, and punctuating that with their final score in the third.

Wildcat eighth-grade squad loses first of back-to-back games versus Perryton

The going was tough last Thursday for the CMS eighth-grade Wildcats in their season debut.

In the first of a two-week doubleheader against the Perryton Rangers, the Cats were defeated in a 6-40 final at Ranger Stadium.

Bridger Burrus led the team’s offense, with 171 yards rushing and 8 yards receiving, and delivered the game’s only Wildcat TD on a 16-yard pass to Jet Cervantes. Burrus completed 10-of-16 passes for 66 yards.

Junior Football League Wildcats split wins with Wheeler

Canadian’s Junior League Wildcats shared wins with Wheeler in football games played here last Saturday. The third- and fourth-grade Cats won their match 28-6, while the fifth- and sixth-graders were held scoreless in a 0-20 loss. Both teams will get another crack at it this Saturday in back-to-back games at Memphis, starting at 3 pm and 5 pm.

Lady Cats place second, led by McClendon in first, at Wolf Creek Classic meet

It was another strong showing for both the Canadian boys’ and girls’ varsity cross-country teams at the Wolf Creek Classic in Perryton last Saturday.

Canadian’s Lady Cats came in second place with 67 points, right behind Hooker, Oklahoma’s runners (52 points), who were the defending Class 2A state champions a year ago.
