Summer artists participating in the Citadelle Art Camp on June 14 were greeted by staff members introducing themselves using art, which featured the letter of their first name, showing “What Makes Us Incredible.” The students proceeded to make their own incredible alphabet art piece. Disney was the theme of this year’s camp, and the high-tech students were taught about the early Disney years when animation was drawn, frame by frame, by talented artists. They were then challenged to make their own flipbooks.

After lunch, the students were taken into the mansion to view artwork by Zimbabwe artist, Craig Bone. His beautifully detailed elephant and cheetah paintings were the inspiration for their own Lion King scenes. Students painted a watercolor African sunset, and then chose which African animal to add to their masterpiece. While in the mansion, they were escorted upstairs to look closely at the beautiful wool rug from Lebanon. Using this fine example of textures and colors, the artists created their own Aladdin’s Magic Carpet.
