New report shows rural voters rely on vote by mail, early voting

Voters in rural areas across the country heavily rely on alternative ways to vote, including voting by mail and in-person early voting. Newly-proposed state legislation would restrict their ability to cast a ballot, according to a new report by the nonpartisan election policy group Secure Democracy USA.

Leimar Boutique is now open for business

Canadian’s newest business—Leimar Boutique—celebrated its official ribbon-cutting on Friday, July 1, with members of the Canadian/ Hemphill County Chamber of Commerce. On hand for the event were Norma Navarro and owner Heidy Sanchez (center of photo wielding the giant scissors), and from left, Mason Moore, Mary Mena, Dayva Mena, Chamber representatives Jackie McPherson and Aracely McPherson, Sylvia Guerrero and Chamber board member Michelle Schaef. Representing the younger generation were Leilani and Elmarie Nolasco. Leimar Boutique offers a variety of fashion and accessories, including items for men, women and children. It is located at 314 Kingman Avenue.
