Wildcats blowout Dimmit 62-6 for Coach Chris Koetting’s 150th career victory

For a second straight week, Canadian had no problems rolling through the bottom half of District 3-3A Division II, blowing out Dimmitt 62-6 last Friday night at Bobcat Stadium. Canadian Head Coach Chris Koetting also achieved a special milestone in the victory, earning his 150th career.

The Wildcat JV put Dimmitt away in the first half of last Thursday’s showdown, running up a formidable 40-zip lead and icing it with a final 6 in the fourth quarter. The Cats posted 276 total yards on offense, and the defense did the rest—forcing five turnovers, recovering three fumbles, an onside kick, and picking off a pass. Dimmitt had negative yards rushing, and only 16 total yards on offense.

Last weekend's Frank Phillips College NIRA Rodeo draws a crowd, earns rave reviews

It was a little hard to ignore the Frank Phillips College NIRA Rodeo held here in Canadian last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It may not have doubled the town’s population, but it dramatically multiplied the number of shiny new horse trailers, campers, and RVs parked down at the County Recreation Complex, many times over.

Canadian was given everything it wanted from Spearman and then some. But good teams find ways to win when it counts, and the Wildcats snuck out of Lynx Stadium with a thrilling 38-37 victory over the Lynx in a District 3-3A Division II clash Friday night.
