Our Political Advertising Policy
for May 4, 2024 Elections

As a courtesy to all candidates running for public office, The Record will publish a photo and initial declaration of candidacy at no charge on our Facebook and webpage (www.canadianrecord.com).

Candidate filing is underway for candidates seeking a place on the ballot in the May 4 city council and hospital, school and groundwater district board elections.

The Hemphill County Hospital District now has a new member on its board of directors: Whitney Jones. Jones won 66 votes in Saturday’s election, over current board member Jesse Hanes’s 48. Cory Pittman received 99 votes and Colby Leach, 104.

The City Council and CISD Board elections were both cancelled due to the lack of contested races.
