Rosa Garza will serve CISD this year as a Canadian Elementary School custodian. Garza is originally from Long Beach, California, but has lived in Canadian since 2012.

Denita Landry is stepping back into her teaching shoes to work as a part-time reading interventionist at Canadian Elementary School. Landry moved to Canadian in 1982 when she was in sixth grade.

It’s time to get back in gear and start another great year at Canadian ISD. The past year proved to be a challenging one for all of us and I am hopeful this year will be much better for everyone! Obviously, COVID-19 is a factor in our daily school functions and our main goal is to educate students in the safest way possible while maintaining a high level of instruction.
We are super excited for this school year! Summer band started last week, and we already have a group of dedicated students. Our group is comprised of mostly young students. Seventy percent of the band members are freshman and sophomores.
Going into his 22nd year in education, Blake Eddleman will take on the position of special education and functional living teacher at Canadian High School. Additionally, he will serve as the eighth-grade girls’ basketball coach, high school girls’ assistant basketball coach, and the high school softball assistant coach.
It has been very rewarding to be a part of the district’s efforts to provide new and innovative STEM courses to our students at Canadian ISD. Sparked by student interest in the careers and jobs tied to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), CISD has committed to increasing the number of STEM course offerings, as well as working to improve those courses that already exist.
Canadian native Saige (Pennington) Hamby is taking on the role of eighth-grade English language arts/reading teacher at Canadian Middle School. She was a CHS class of 2016 graduate.
