Body

Bonnie Marie Erickson, 77, died peacefully on October 6, 2026, in the middle of her second slumber party of the week, surrounded by her family. Her final weeks were filled with a steady stream of visitors, a beautiful testament to the many lives she touched and the lasting impact she made on everyone who knew her.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Bonnie was born on December 30, 1948, to Bill and Yvonne Bagley. She grew up as the second of five children in Marmarth, North Dakota, and graduated from high school in Baker, Montana. Bonnie met the love of her life, Wally, and the two were married in 1970. Together, they had two children, KJ and Kellie. Wally’s job eventually brought the family to Canadian in 1991, where they made their home just outside of town in the country.

Living outside of town certainly didn’t keep Bonnie from being an active and enthusiastic presence in the lives of her two grandchildren, Joey and Dakotah. She was always ready to sign up for a school event, cheer them on, or support whatever they were involved in. Bonnie became a huge Wildcat fan, supporting not only her grandchildren but all the kids as though they were her own. Bonnie also was an avid Kansas City Chief and Golden State Warriors fan.

Bonnie had a generous heart and found great joy in giving to others. She was loving, devoted to her family, and rarely met a stranger. Bonnie loved to talk, had a wonderful sense of humor, and could bring laughter and conversation wherever she went. She also loved to shop, although most of the time she was shopping for someone else rather than herself.

Above all, Bonnie loved her family. Her generous spirit, sense of humor, enthusiasm for life, and genuine care for others made her someone people naturally wanted to be around. She loved people well, and she leaves them with memories they will carry for years to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wally; son, Kenneth Erickson; sister, Peggy Smith; and niece and nephew, Kandi and Dustin Koenig.

Survivors include her daughter, Kellie Reeves and husband Brandon; grandchildren, Joey Kirkhart and wife Mallory, Dakotah Cherbak and wife Jessica, Royale Reeves and wife Parke, Alexa Flowers and wife Ren, and Kyler Eschenbacher and wife Rena; great-grandchildren, Robin Bell and Anthony Joseph Cherbak; siblings, Butch Bagley and wife Karen, Bill Bagley and wife Mary Ellen, and Cindy Thompson.

Memorials can be sent to Mesa View Senior Living Activity Fund, 106 Teas Circle, Canadian, Texas 79014 or Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. 4th, Canadian, Texas 79014.
