Body A countyside outdoor burn ban first enacted by Hemphill County Commissioners on April 10, 2023, has been rescinded. Judge Lisa Johnson has determined that due to plentiful rainfall over the last few days, the circumstances that required the order no longer exist.

Hospital board race decided in only May 6 election race

Body The Hemphill County Hospital District now has a new member on its board of directors: Whitney Jones. Jones won 66 votes in Saturday’s election, over current board member Jesse Hanes’s 48. Cory Pittman received 99 votes and Colby Leach, 104.
