Texas Department of Transportation calls for safe driving in work zones

AUSTIN – Following a year in which fewer people were killed in work zone crashes in Texas, TxDOT is calling on all drivers to stay vigilant and help continue that downward trend. As National Work Zone Awareness Week kicks off, TxDOT’s “Be Safe. Drive Smart.” campaign is reminding drivers to stay alert and exercise caution when going through road construction and maintenance areas.

Cruise Night returns to Canadian’s downtown Saturday

The first Cruise Night was held on Canadian’s Main Street in June 2018. It was the brainstorm of Alex Adcock, who said he was inspired by his lifelong love of anything with a motor, and his many conversations with friends like Mike Leonard and Rick Zenor, who shared similar interests.

Sales Tax Holiday for Emergency Supplies, April 22-24

(AUSTIN) — With the severe weather season upon us, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds Texans they can purchase certain items tax-free during the state’s sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies, which begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, and ends at midnight on Monday, April 24.

Canadian City Wide Garage Sale is scheduled for this Saturday

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce will hold a City Wide Garage Sale this Saturday, April 15, 2023. Maps are available at The Chamber of Commerce Office and also in the silver mailbox located at the front door of the Chamber building. Thirteen garage sale sites are illustrated on the map. TPWD Cautions: Don’t Handle Wildlife, Especially Babies

AUSTIN — Spring has sprung. With extended sunshine and milder days, more people are enjoying the outdoors as native wildlife adds new fawns and hatchlings to their broods. Texans may start to notice more wildlife in their backyard, neighborhood or surrounding areas. The best thing to do is to leave them alone.
