The National Little Britches Rodeo was held in Guthrie, Oklahoma, July 2-7, at the Lazy E arena. Kids ages 5 to 18 from all over the United States and Canada were invited to compete in events throughout the week. Among them was 13-year-old Jaytyn Hash, an eighth-grader at Lakin Middle school in Lakin, Kansas. Jaytyn and his roping partner—Eli Penrod from Moscow, Kansas—placed second in the first go-round, fourth in the second go, and fifth in the short go, to win the average and share the title of World Champion Junior Roping Team. Jaytyn’s 17-year-old brother, Jaylyn, placed third in team roping in the first go-round, fifth in calf roping in the secon go, and fourth in the third go, winning the average in calf roping, and a saddle for World Champion Senior Calf Roping.
