The National Little Britches Rodeo was held in Guthrie, Oklahoma, July 2-7, at the Lazy E arena. Kids ages 5 to 18 from all over the United States and Canada were invited to compete in events throughout the week. Among them was 13-year-old Jaytyn Hash, an eighth-grader at Lakin Middle school in Lakin, Kansas. Jaytyn and his roping partner—Eli Penrod from Moscow, Kansas—placed second in the first go-round, fourth in the second go, and fifth in the short go, to win the average and share the title of World Champion Junior Roping Team. Jaytyn’s 17-year-old brother, Jaylyn, placed third in team roping in the first go-round, fifth in calf roping in the secon go, and fourth in the third go, winning the average in calf roping, and a saddle for World Champion Senior Calf Roping. The two young men are the sons of Jimboy and Jessica Hash of Lakin, and grandsons of Jim and Davie Hash of Canadian. PHOTOS PROVIDED BY FAMILY
